Health upgrades extend Young's health as you would expect. There are a total of 10 upgrades in the game giving Young a maximum of 16 health. They take the form of a fairy that Young must touch, which then literally carves out another health bar in the HUD for him.
Health upgrades will be listed by location.
Blue forest
Upgrade 1
Simply defeat the boss of the Temple, which is the dungeon of the blue forest.
Upgrade 2
After obtaining a minimum of four cards, you may pass a gate in the blue forest leading to a small gauntlet. Complete the gauntlet to find the upgrade.
From the Nexus waypoint, the gate is:
- Left
- Down
- Down
- Left
- Up
- Left
- Left
- Left
Red sea
Upgrade 3
Simply defeat the boss of the red sea dungeon.
Beach
Upgrade 4
Obtain a minimum of eight cards and access the gate in the beach area. It is in the far left of the map. Another gauntlet of enemies guards the upgrade.
Cliffs
Upgrade 5
Simply defeat the boss of the cliffs dungeon.
Black and white town
Upgrade 6
Obtain a minimum of 16 cards and access the gate in the black and white town area. From the Nexus waypoint, go right twice.
A short maze guards the upgrade.
Upgrade 7
Simply defeat the boss of the black and white town's dungeon.
8-bit maze
Upgrade 8
Obtain a minimum of 24 cards and access the gate in the 8-bit maze. From the red sea's Nexus waypoint, go down to the 8-bit maze, then go right six times to reach the gate.
A maze guards the upgrade.
Acrobat dungeon
Upgrade 9
Simply defeat the boss of the acrobat dungeon.
Hotel dungeon
Upgrade 10
Simply defeat the boss of the hotel dungeon.
